Remainder of the Summer

So, obviously I haven't posted in AWHILE now! The summer went fast! I can't believe it's October already! I don't even remember all those hot days that I just read about in my blog. We did end up going to Coastguard which is always a blast! Alysa met a couple new friends and apparently one of her 15 guy friends would like to date me. Cute. :)
We went shopping downtown Grand Haven to all the booths and got some good stuff and good deals.

We skipped out on the parade again this year. Too boring unless you know someone in it. We also skipped the fireworks. We'll catch 'em at Celebration on the Grand. We just kind of chilled and relaxed over a long weekend. Very nice.

We did, of course, go to the fair. Can't miss that! Lots of rides and carnival games.

One unfortunate event that didn't directly affect us was that a little 3 or 4 year old girl nearly drowned in the pool one of the nights we were there. It was diner time 630ish and a bunch of adults were in the pool and a little girl was walking around it. No one knew who she was or who she was with so no one was really paying attention. Then all of a sudden she was gone and a guy started shouting that a girl was on the bottom of the pool! He pulled her out and starting doing CPR. She made it, but stayed the night in the hospital. SCARY! Parents! Watch your kids.
Other than that, it was a wonderful weekend with the fam. Can't wait for next year!!!

Kidless for the weekend...

Well, not exactly. We still had Lacey, but Tyler and Alysa went camping at Cran Hill with grandma. It looks like they had a lot of fun! Kayaking, skateboarding, horseback riding, etc.
What did we do? Not much. Hung out with friends and cleaned the yard. Fun, fun. We got the swings up that have been down for nearly a month. FINALLY!
Jake and I did get to go out to Berlin one night for a couple of drinks. It, of course, had to thunderstorm and get shut down early. Anytime we get some free time, something happens, but oh well...2 mintues, 2 hours...I'll take it. I'm happy! :)

Rain, rain, go away...

Actually I like the rain. It allows me to blog more. :) That and entertain indoors. Not sure how I feel about that. Board games and dollhouses have been the fascination today. I keep hearing, "When it stops raining, can we go in the pool?" Little do they know that it's not going to stop raining anytime SOON! I wanted to go back to Berlin tonight, but I'm not sure the beer tent can weather the upcoming storm. :)
Tyler and Alysa were supposed to go camping with my mom up at CranHill, but b/c of all the rain, they aren't going until tomorrow. This really ruins my beer tent idea. :( Oh well, movie night! Anyone up for The Squeakuel or TS2 again?

Berlin

Took ALL the kids to the Berlin Fair today for the Nick Kids' Show. It was hot, but fun!
We'll have to go back tonight so I can have some fun on the rides! :)

Summer Events

Mid-July already! Atleast all vacations are scheduled and paid for. It's the little activities that we plan to do that still need to be scheduled.
Tyler started hockey camp this week. What a task! Driving him to and from practice and lugging his gear around.

Berlin Fair next week a and then Ty gets to go to Barothy Lodge in Walhalla for a vacation with his dad and grandma at the end of the month. Lucky him!

The following weekend is the Coastguard Festival and then then Mackinaw in September. Shortly after that...school starts again! I can't believe how fast it goes.

This is just a preview to our fun-filled summer so be on the look out for more exciting blogs!

4th of July 2010

Last weekend was amazing!!! We had awesome weather and incredible fireworks!!! Yes, I know...I am the true adjective girl. :)
We, of course, went up to Hardy. Jake & a couple others blew fireworks off the point against Woodruff. Not much of a competition with the others using electronics. Ours were still pretty cool though.
The fam was a little waterlogged from all the boating, swimming and playing on the beach, but still...well worth the extra day off!

Whitehall

We took a road trip to Whitehall/Montague today. The White Lake pier is beautiful out there! On the way we witnessed the Air Show. Those jets make my stomach flip. It's so awesome though!

We walked the pier and let the girls wade in the water. Then we went and visited the nearby Mouth Cemetery. We can never go to Whitehall and NOT visit that cemetery. We are addicted! It is one of the oldest cememeteries in Michigan. I've posted a few pics.
Enjoy!

Toy Story 3

I took the kids to see TS3 today and it was really good. I never expect the 2nd or 3rd movie in a series to be as good, but I think that this was the best one of the set...so far. :) Yes, I AM hoping or another one. Bonnie has to grow up too you know! Has anyone else seen it! If so, let me know what you think.

Tornado Warning!

What an amazing storm that was last night! Ok, I was a little scared, but it was still pretty incredible. After waking up to the tornado siren (in my backyard!), I ran upstairs to grab a sleeping baby...who was NOT happy. For the next 40 minutes I hovered over a child that refused to take her hands of her eyes and ears. She was alternating between the 2 and trying to get me to do the same. The other 2 slept through the whole thing. I couldn't believe how much lighting there was! For a minute I thought the siren had lights and that's what I was seeing. Unbelievable but again...incredible!

Kym

Tyler's last baseball game was on Saturday. They won 9-8!
Summer has officially begun. Looking forward to weekends at the cabin and lots of camping trips.
If anyone knows of a late 90's early 2000's popup camper for sale, let me know. We are looking for another one. If anyone would like to rent one of our campers, please get a hold of us. Thanks!

To the summer!!!

Kids are out of school and we are still working. Hey, wait a minute...how does that work!?!
Oh well...at least the kids get a break. No more struggling to get everyone to bed on time or fighting to get homework done. We are now on our own schedule. Yippee!!!
Late night campfires and ice cream! I LOVE summer!
I'm so proud of the kids this past school year. Yes, we had our struggles, but they both passed! Doesn't that count for something?
Alysa graduated from Kindergarten this morning and Tyler made it through 4th grade with mostly A's. He has amazed me this past semester! Hopefully 5th grade treats him well.

This summer was much needed and I hope it doesn't go too fast.
Can't wait to get some camping in and maybe some road trips. Now that Lacey is old enough for longer car rides (with the exception of a few potty breaks) we can experience more of Michigan with less troubles.
Here we come summer!!!

Bored...

Only 3 days into summer and I'm already bored. I guess I got used to the constant driving back and forth to school and actually getting AWAY from the house. Now I have to make up lame excuses just to leave. Hmm...it looks like we might need some milk in the next few days...let's go to the store! Yippee! It's pathetic.
On a more positive note...we bought another camper so we can do more camping and still rent the other one out. If anyone is interested, let me know!
